Tensioning wheel, also known as tensioner, is a belt tensioning device used in automotive transmission systems. The tensioner is divided into accessory tensioner pulley (generator, air conditioner and mechanical supercharger belt tensioners, etc.) and timing belt tensioner pulley according to the occurring parts. On the basis of tensioning method, it's divided into mechanical automatic and hydraulic automatic tensioners.
The tensioner mainly consists of a fixed shell, tensioning arm, wheel body, torsion spring, rolling bearing, and spring sleeve. It can automatically adjust the tensioning force according to the different tightness of belt, making the transmission system stable, safe, and reliable. It's a vulnerable part of automotive. The belt is prone to wear and tear over time, and the belt groove may appear stretched after being worn deep or narrow. The function of tensioner is to adjust the tightness of belt, reduce vibration during belt operation, and to some extent prevent belt slipping, ensuring the normal and stable operation of transmission system.
