The function of the gear housing cover gasket has two aspects. Firstly, to protect the engine gear housing from wear and impact. Secondly, to buffer and absorb shock, extending the service life of the engine and its gear housing.
The gear housing cover is used to protect and seal the gear train of engine and make the lubricating oil return to the oil pan, reducing the vibration generated by internal components and gear transmission meshing during engine operation, and isolating and decreasing the noise caused by these vibrations. In addition, the gear housing cover can prevent dirt from getting into the housing and keep it clean.
The gear housing is one of the important parts of engine, and also the housing mainly used to install and fix the engine gears. It’s mainly made of gray iron and then completed by machining, and its general structure is relatively complex. In addition, in order to reduce the overall weight of gear housing, the wall thickness of it is often designed to be thin, which in turn can lead to the scrapping of workpiece if slight carelessness is made during the machining process.
