The water temperature sensor is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor, which is installed in the cylinder head water jacket. It’s composed of a thermostat part and a water level control part, which are matched with a pressure reducing device in front of the electric valve and a rotary silencing heater for heating.
The function of water temperature sensor is to convert the temperature of cooling water into an electrical signal. When the water temperature of engine is low, the temperature sensor inputs temperature information to the ECU, which enriches the air fuel ratio and stabilizes operation of engine. If the water temperature sensor does not emit a cold engine status message at this time, it will cause the air fuel ratio to become lean, leading to abnormal engine operation.
