The oil filter is used to remove impurities such as dust, metal particles, carbon deposits, and soot particles from the oil, protecting the engine. There are two types of oil filters: full flow and split flow. The full flow filter is connected between the oil pump and main oil passage, so it can filter out all lubricating oil entering the passage. The split flow filter is connected in parallel with the main oil channel, and only filtering the lubricating oil sent out by oil pump.
Water, dust, metal debris, oxidized carbon deposits and colloidal precipitate at high temperatures, etc. constantly mix with lubricating oil during the working process of engine. The function of an oil filter is to filter out these mechanical impurities and gums, keep the lubricating oil clear, and extend its service life.
