The air reservoir is a gas storage device, which is used to store the compressed air from air compressor, and applied for brake, horn and other systems in automobiles. There are many places on the truck where air is used, ranging from the whistle to brake. If the air reservoir doesn’t exist, the amount of air pumped out by air compressor alone is far from enough. Therefore, it’s necessary to store the air in the reservoir and wait for critical use.
We all know that the air contains a large amount of dust and water molecules. There is also oil pumped into the vehicle due to malfunction of air compressor. If it enters the air circuit of vehicle and remains for a long time, it can easily damage vehicle components and cause hidden dangers to driving safety. The air pumped in by air compressor will briefly stay in the reservoir. Due to the relative weight of water molecules, dust, and oil in the air being heavier, they will fall to the bottom part. Then the air reservoir also plays a filtering role.
When air is pumped into the vehicle, the upward and downward movement of air compressor piston makes it extremely unstable when flowing into the air path. The air reservoir allows unstable air to pass through and remain, and then it flows out with stable pressure through the outlet.
